Child Safety Standards

Last updated: 3 October 2026

Ember is strictly 18+

Ember is operated by SM Digital Ventures (Pty) Ltd and is only for adults aged 18 and older. Every member must provide an eligible date of birth to complete a profile. Accounts belonging to anyone under 18 are not permitted.

Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation

Ember has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). The following are strictly prohibited: child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form; grooming; sexualising minors; soliciting, arranging or encouraging contact with a minor for sexual purposes; and any other conduct that exploits or endangers children.

How to report a concern

Use the report action on a member's profile, in your matches or in a chat, and choose "Member may be under 18" or "Child safety concern". You can also email our designated child-safety contact at safety@emberdating.online. Please do not copy, save or forward any material you believe may involve a child; describe what you saw instead.

How Ember responds

Child-safety reports are given high priority in our moderation queue and are reviewed by authorised people. A report alone does not decide the outcome. Where appropriate, Ember may restrict or suspend an account and preserve relevant records, which are not deleted through normal account deletion while a legitimate safety, legal, investigation or reporting purpose remains.

Co-operation with authorities

Ember reports and escalates to appropriate competent authorities where required or applicable, and co-operates with lawful requests from those authorities.
